Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small town that is located on the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. Many people who don't know about the place mistakenly think that the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually it is the West Island includes everything westward of the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is often called her birthplace. However, she only stayed there for a short duration. Brugel grew up in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. Her early ambition was to be a dancer but a growth spurt resulted in her outgrowing her dance partners. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. As soon as I outgrew my male counterparts, I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the nudge of a high school drama teacher that led her in the right direction. She was recommended by a teacher to get a role for the school's annual show. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the school's annual production. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has landed roles on over 60 shows on small and big screens drawing the most attention when she landed the role as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel appeared only on rare instances in the initial season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the only Canadian participant.
